XMPP. I’m starting to wonder whether or not this is the right thing to do, backing this protocol and everything. Sure, it makes so much sense. An open messaging protocol with support for an infinite amount of manipulation, but how many times have I heard that it’s too bulky to code in, too bandwidth intensive to scale? I wonder if there’s anything else out there…

Collaborative Whiteboard Turns iPhones into Linked... →
These are great. Collaborative tools are so much fun and can really help you think in new ways. I’ve seen some homebrew for the Nintendo DS that did this AND incorporated VOIP, but being on the DS it was necessary to run it over wifi.

boxee: the open, connected, social media center... →
I’ve finally had a chance to check out the boxee alpha today. NOTHING IS BETTER THAN THIS. While that may be a little over-dramatic, I am totally stunned by the app and its interface for dealing with so many types of content providers and media. Stunning.

FriendFeed Hits Nearly One Million Users; Grew... →
In the end, Twitter has no place and Friendfeed does, because Laconica is real and lifestream apps are only just now getting anywhere. I would love to see both of these apps collapse under the weight of their userbases, though, and people can cloudhost their own communication services. All of which is spidered and networked through OAuth and OpenID. :)

Ahh backing up your lifestream.. what does that mean? What does it do to link to something thats no longer there? Sure images and video and maybe your thoughts should be saved, but aren’t there ways to do that already? and better?

Windows 7 build 7000 already outperforming Vista... →
This was inevitable, but I’m glad to see it: a build of Windows that doesn’t make me want to hurl. I use Ubuntu at work, but at home I need Windows to not suck so I can play video games on my ass kicking PC.
